On this page I will present a selection of projects I have worked with over the years, with an emphasis on the most recent ones.
MotionComposer
Josepha Dietz and Stefi on a MotionComposer workshop in Weimar in 2015
MotionComposer is a device for people of all abilities making music from movements using computer vision technology. MotionComposer is also a company founded by Robert Wechsler based in Germany making that same device . I have been involved with MotionComposer since 2011, mostly working on the sound environment Particles, which is one of six sound environments currently on the device. I have also published several papers related to MotionComposer together with Wechsler.
Bergsland, Andreas; Wechsler, Robert. (2016) Turning movement into music – issues and applications of the MotionComposer, a therapeutic device for persons with different abilities. SoundEffects. vol. 6 (1). DOI: https://doi.org/10.7146/se.v6i1.24911

Beginnings and endings
This was a project I worked with during my sabbatical in the academic year 2021/22 during recidencies at ZHdK in Zürich and Casa Paganini in Genova. These are links to resources and results in the project:
Vibra project

With a grant from the Norwegian Culture Council, I arranged a series of three workshops in Trondheim with dancers/choreographers, video artists and a music tech colleague during the winter/spring of 2018. The network was named VIBRA, an Norwegian acronym which translates into Visuals - Interaction - Movement - Space - Audio. The project now has its own website at www.vibra.no where we have put information about the project and a blog about technical as well as artistic issues.
Some of the posts from the original blog are migrated to this blog and can be found here.
