In-progress interactive work

During a week of November 2025, I continued the work on the interactive dance piece with the working title “You say you love your children above all else” together with dancers and co-creators Amie-Blaire Chartier and Camille Jackson, and choreographer Robert Wechsler Palindrome Dance Company. The work was started in 2024 in Weimar, where the piece was conceived, and at the time it was thought of as a solo (see blog post here). We spent a week at the Theaterhaus in Mitte, Berlin to develop a version of the piece with two dancers, implying a huge revision for choreography, concept and interactive instruments.

As in the previous version, the piece centers on the environmental crisis and the human response to it. Here is a description of the piece:

The title is borrowed from one of these emotional speeches, where the sound of her voice is used just as much as its content is used from framing the work as both lament and provocation. It also draws on a range of more abstract and noise dominated sounds, generated by translating raw sensor data into sound in a way that merges the current movement with recorded movement histories, creating a sonic dialogue between past and present. The dancers navigate this feedback loop, mirroring humanity’s struggle to confront its own traces—ecological, political, or personal. In a final crescendo, a violent fire builds up: limbs flicker like embers, building toward a roar of transformation or collapse.

The piece is still in-progress, especially since we now have two dancers. We hope to premiere the piece at some point during 2026.
